Sudan is an Arab country. It is also the largest country in Africa and the 10th largest in the world by area. Located in northeastern Africa, the Republic of Sudan is surrounded by the Red Sea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda, Kenya, the Central African Republic, Libya, Chad and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Nile River, the longest in the world, divides Sudan between the west and east.
Although within the tropics, Sudan’s temperate climate in the north is affected by the Arid Desert while it becomes wet and dry in the southwest. The movement of the winds coming from the northeast and the southwest determine the length of the dry season. Dry season in Sudan is from January to March. The rains and humid air come in April and extend until August. The season becomes dry again from September until the end of December.
