Ayers Rock Airport is located in Yulara, a 20 minute drive from Uluru (Ayers Rock) itself. Yulara is in the middle of Australia, and the airport serves 300,000 passengers annually. Ayers Rock is a tourist destination that has a wonderful spiritual history which attracts many travellers from around the world, annually.
Ayers Rock Airport originally began under the guidance of Edward Connellan. Connellan had started an airline which he called “Connellan Airways”. The airport is a small airport with one main terminal with restrooms, vending machines, a National Geographic shop, a single baggage collection conveyor belt, Customs Baggage Screening, and passenger check-in. The airport does not feature ATM machines; however, one is available in the town of Yulara.
Virgin Australia and Qantas Boeing 737-8000 are the largest aircrafts that the airport caters to. The airport’s runway is simple with T-VASIS and a single stage lighting system. In itself the runway measures 8,527 x 98 feet.
Virgin Australia and Qantas connect passengers to Sydney, Perth, Cairns, and Alice Springs. Private charters also offer passengers a variety of scenic flights. Other airlines that fly in and out of the airport include Jetstar, Air New Zealand, and Singapore Airlines, as well as a few others, connecting passengers to a number of destinations.

Airport Parking and Transfers
Ayers Rock Airport is a small one building airport with parking opposite of the building. Travellers and guests to the airport are able to park at no cost. Ayers Rock does not have the service of taxis available; however, the Uluru Express runs a service for all travellers that need transfer to their hotel or camp sites. Travellers can also connect to their final destination via a free shuttle bus service that is operated by AAT Kings, which will take travellers to their accommodations in Yulara, which include the campground. Rental Cars from Avis, Thrifty, and Hertz are also available.
