Los Angeles International Airport, or, LAX, as it is often referred to, is the third busiest airport in the US and the sixth busiest in the world. LAX is the main international airport that most travellers will fly into from Australia when visiting the USA and Los Angeles. A U shaped two level roadway interlinks nine passenger terminals that serve millions of travellers annually. The airport features a number of amenities which includes business centres which offer convenient services for travellers, public telephones, restrooms, duty free shops, newsstands, gift shops, cocktail lounges, and ethnic styled and brand named restaurants, as well as, a first aid station, special telephones that are connected to various services such as bus and limo services and area hotels and motels throughout the airport. Travellers with special disabilities have special privileges as well as services and facilities. Although the LAX is one of the busiest airports in the world, it is quite comfortable with inside controlled climates and plenty of places to relax and enjoy the time while travellers wait for their flight.
Los Angeles International Airport considers security a priority and each traveller must go through airport security checkpoints which are operated by Transportation Security Officers. These checkpoints are designed to ensure that individuals do not bring dangerous materials aboard the plane that could cause damage to it. Baggage is also screened. All travellers must also have photo ID which they present to airport authorities.
Baggage claim is available at the airport’s lower level and curb side baggage check in is available on the upper departure level. The airport does not feature a hotel, however, there are plenty of hotels close by on Century Blvd., with the Radisson being the closet and offers free airport transfer.
Airport Parking and Transfers as LAX
Los Angeles International Airport features eight parking structures, and nearly 8,000 parking stalls. Travellers are permitted to leave their vehicle for a few hours, overnight, or extended trips. LAX offers a number of transport services which include LAX Shuttles, FlyAway, which is an airport service that transports passenger in specific areas such as Irvine Station or Van Nuys, public transportation, such as, buses, and tube, limos, and taxis. Airport shuttle service is available from select hotels and between airport parking lots and terminals.
