Benito Juarez International Airport
Benito Juarez International Airport, also called Mexico City International Airport, is located in Mexico and provides airline service to Mexico City. The airport is the country’s busiest airport in terms of aircraft movements and passenger traffic and is Latin America’s second busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic. The airport is served by 30 International and domestic airlines that connect flyers to over 100 destinations. The airport served over 36 million passengers in 2011.
Mexico City International Airport is a main gateway into the country. Although the airport is undergoing a number of upgrades, it is still inadequate for some travellers. It is, however, considered a modern and efficient airport, with services, amenities and facilities to enhance the travel experience.
Mexico City Airport features two terminals that are linked via a monorail that is accessible to passengers that hold a ticket. The newer terminal is mostly used by Aeromexico and SkyTeam. Both International and domestic flights are served through Terminal 1.
Aeromexico / Aeromexico Connect operate the highest number of airport departures which is then followed by Viva Aerobus, Volaris and Interjet. Aeromexico is also the airline that fly’s’ to the most destinations followed by Air France, Iberia, and Interjet.
The airport is user friendly for those travelling with disabilities with access to restrooms, lounges, eating facilities and airport shops, as well as, special services such as pre-boarding privileges. It is also user friendly for travellers travelling with children.
Passenger facilities located inside the airport offer a wide range of fast food joints, restaurants, and bars, as well as, 160 shops. Travellers also enjoy ATMs, tourist information desks, charging stations, lounges, and currency exchange services. Tours of the airport are also available.
Airport Parking and Transfers
Mexico City Airport offers parking garages across from each of the two terminals. The parking garages offer accessible parking for pregnant women, seniors and disabled. Valet parking is also available. The terminals offer both short term and long term parking that is affordably priced.
Mexico City Airport offers ground transportation to and from the airport which include taxis, metro, rental cars and limos. Authorized taxi stands are located within the terminals where travellers can purchase a ticket to their destination and then proceed outside to the taxi line.
