What to see in Paris
Paris was the world’s largest city for centuries, and until today it inspires and influences the world through culture, art, fashion, and food.
It was named “The City of Light” because this is where the Age of Enlightenment was born. And as a popular destination for romance, Paris also became known as “The City of Love”. But with so much more you can see and do, there is always room in Paris for all types of travellers.
Whether you love culture or simply want photos for social media, Paris landmarks are a must. Take a Paris tour bus that you can “hop on and hop off” to most of the city’s key places, like the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, and the Grand Palais.
Did you come to Paris for Mona Lisa? Ride the same tour bus again or hop on the subway to see it at The Louvre. Don’t forget to stop by the city’s other museums and spend hours among masterpieces from Musée Rodin and Musée d’Orsay. Musée Jacquemart-Andre even has a lovely café that tourists love to come back to.
Complete your Parisian experience and wander the streets of Champs-Élysées and Place de la Concorde. And if you’re dreaming of French cuisine, there are plenty of places to eat from Montmartre, Montparnasse, and more.
For your own version of Paris Fashion Week, visit shops at Rue de Rivoli and Canal Saint-Martin, or find antiques and second-hand goods at Saint-Ouen’s. By the end of the day, enjoy Paris nightlife at Moulin Rouge, Folies Bergère, and the Paris Olympia.

When to visit Paris
If you’re wondering when you should go, just remember Audrey Hepburn’s line from the movie Sabrina - “Paris is always a good idea.” And we agree because the city is worth visiting throughout the year, with most tourists stopping by during summer.
What’s even better is that Australians don’t need a visa to go to Paris, just check if your passport is valid for at least three months.
Finally, you should know that English is rarely spoken here, so it’s best to take a short French course, buy a good phrase book, or a find language app.
