What to do in Bali
Bali is arguably the most popular island in Indonesia, not because it was shown on Eat Pray Love (though it did help), but because of its beautifully diverse landscape. You’ll be greeted with hills, mountains, and fantastic beaches to name a few. In fact, many have named Bali as the “Island of the Gods” since visitors always feel that they’ve found heaven on earth.
Besides nature’s blessings, you’ll be stunned by Balinese architecture all over the island. Their blending of this ancient design style with modern structures are will bring out the shutterbug in you. And with locals that are as warm as the island, you’ll have plenty of reasons to fly to Bali.
Are you on a tropical state of mind? Get your fill of sun, sand, and surfing and head to one of Bali’s many beaches. Surfies can take a taxi and head to Kuta beach, Uluwatu beach, or the “Balinese Pipeline” Padang-Padang. If you want to sunbathe or swim, Dreamland beach and Sanur beach are your best bet.
Nature trippers love Bali for hiking and its wildlife. Climb Kintamani or Mount Batur for breathtaking views. Have a wild adventure at Bali Safari and Marine Park or Ubud Monkey Forest.
Of course, you can’t go to Bali and miss the temples. Have a spiritual day and see the iconic temples at Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, and the “Mother Temple” Purah Besakih. Tanah Lot is also a great spot for sunset watching, and Uluwatu has many “I’m contemplating life” photo ops with its gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean.
Experience more of the Balinese way of life in Ubud. Walk around town for a taste of their flavour and traditions. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave). Haggle for trinkets, art, and clothes at Ubud Market. And after tasting their culture, taste their cuisine next with SethLuis’ must eats in Bali.
