Bacolod Overview

Bacolod is the capital of Negros Occidental in the Western Visayas region. Dubbed as the City of Smiles, it is one of the best places to live in the Philippines. It is widely popular for its Masskara Festival during the third week of October. Expect a sea of vibrant colors with its carnival-like appeal of tribal street dances and parade of colorful costumes and masks where most are handmade. Flights to Bacolod

Four airlines fly to Bacolod from Manila. Cebu Pacific offers 2 early morning and 2 late afternoon flights every day of the week plus staggered flight schedules on other days. PAL Express schedules five flights throughout the day, seven days a week, while AirAsia Zest has three flights each day. Tigerair Philippines offers morning flights daily and one afternoon flight on Friday, Sunday and Monday. All flights land at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport in Silay City, 15 kilometers from the city of Bacolod.

Need to Know

PAL Express provides a snack pack for its passengers. Most airlines flying domestic routes these days only serve snacks for flights that are less than 75 minutes long. Inflight snack bars are provided for passengers wishing to buy additional food items. Most airlines also no longer provide audio and video entertainment to keep the flight rates down. Domestic flights give free baggage allowance from 10kgs. to 15kgs. Hand carry luggage should be less than 7kgs.

From the airport, shuttle services are offered by public utility vehicles. Another option to reach the city is to take a motorized tricycle. Several hotels are just a few minutes away from the airport, including L’Fisher, Circle Inn, and The Suites at Calle Nueva.
