General Santos, the southernmost city in the Philippines, was known as Dadiangás. The city embraces modern technology with state-of-the-art communication facilities that are at par with global standards. It is the gateway to most of the regions in Mindanao via air, land, and sea.

Airport and Airlines

The city is served by the General Santos International (Tambler) Airport. This is the largest airport in the entire island of Mindanao and capable of handling the wide-bodied Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A340. Direct flights from NAIA in Manila to General Santos City are available from Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and PAL Express. Budget airline Cebu Pacific offers one early morning and one early afternoon flight to the city daily. Additional early morning flight is offered by Cebu Pacific on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while a late afternoon flight is available on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Philippine Airlines also offers one early morning flight to General Santos daily, and PAL Express offers early afternoon flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Domestic flights only offer light snacks to passengers, and video and audio entertainment is almost non-existent. Snack bars are available where passengers can purchase snack items and drinks at reasonable prices.
