Tuguegarao is the capital of Cagayan Province, located in the Northern part of the Philippines. It is a city surrounded by rivers and mountains such as the famous Cordillera and Caraballo Mountains. It is the home of the Ibanag, a tribal community still practiceing traditional rituals and ceremonies until today.

The Buntun Bridge is over a kilometer long and the Philippines' longest river bridge. The city also boasts of some ancient churches such as the St. Hyacinth Church built in the 1600s and Saints Peter and Paul Metropolitan Cathedral built in 1761. Notable is the centuries-old Tumauini Church made of red bricks with a cylindrical bell tower, the only one done in this style in the Philippines. Famous in the area is Callao Cave with its varying rock formations. Visitors can take a boat ride along Pinacanauan River and watch thousands of bats come out of Callao Cave or go swimming in its clean water while watching the sun set and turn the area into one gorgeous sight.

Flights to Tuguegarao

There are only two direct flights from NAIA to Tuguegarao Airport daily, offered by Cebu Pacific and PAL Express. Flights are scheduled between 11:00a.m. and 12:20p.m. Cebu Pacific also has additional flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Flight time is just over an hour. Have fun onboard Cebu Pacific when flying to Tuguegarao as the crew conducts fun games for passengers to win souvenir items. Both airlines provide a snack bar where passengers can buy food items at reasonable prices.

The airport hosts other small Philippine-based airlines such as the Sky Pasada with flights to Basco, Palanan, and Maconacon. The other carrier is Northsky Air which also provides flights to Maconacon and Basco. Skyjet is a charter plane that also operates in the city and has a fleet of 3 with direct flights to Cebu, Manila, and Davao.

Need to Know

Though small, this airport is one of the most fully functional and comfortable airports in the entire country.  Tricycles and jeeps are available to take visitors to the city center or to their hotel.
