What to do in Chile
Chile is a South American country between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean. Because of its location, you’ll experience the most exciting contrasts of nature. From the enticing heat of the Atacama Desert to the thrilling chill of the Chilean Patagonia, Chile is a dream destination. And what’s more exciting are the vibrant cities and locals waiting just for you.
Fly to Santiago and go straight to the capital city of Chile. Come alive at the hilltops of Cerro San Cristobal and Cerro Santa Lucia for fantastic views of Santiago. If you love to relive history, check out the city’s Museo Historico Nacional, Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, and the Palacio de la Real Audiencia de Santiago.
Continue chasing history and head next to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites on the Chilean mainland – Old Valparaiso, the Sewell mining town in Rancagua, and the Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Works outside Iquique.
Are you the romantic type? You’ll love visiting the homes turned museums of the famous Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda. There’s La Chascona in Santiago, Casa de Isla Negra, and La Sebastiana in Valparaiso.
Go green and go wild as you explore Chile’s natural side. See the glacier at Laguna San Rafael National Park. Set foot at Lauca National Park’s Lago Chungara, which is one of the world’s highest lakes. Trek the jungles of Robinson Crusoe Island, see the breathtaking desert landscape and sand dunes of Valle de la Luna, and feel the sand in your toes in the beautiful beaches of Viña del Mar.
For your taste of the city life, travel all over Chile’s cities like Concepcion, Iquique, La Serena, San Pedro de Atacama, and of course Santiago. But if you want to experience the most off the beaten path in the world, you should definitely fly to Easter Island.
