What to see in Bangkok
As Thailand’s capital, Bangkok is the country’s centre for art, culture, finance, and politics. It became a top tourist destination for its architecture, art, food, and warm hospitality. You can’t help being charmed by the city’s mix of old world traditions and modern trends.
Start your trip with Bangkok’s popular destinations. Ride the Skytrain to the historic Grand Palace. Its sophisticated design alone will make your jaw drop. Here, you’ll also find Thailand’s most important Buddhist temple – the Wat Phra Kaew and its Emerald Buddha.
Wat Pho is another temple nearby where you’ll see the massive Reclining Buddha. When you’re done taking pictures, get a foot massage at the temple’s pavilion before your next stop.
Along with temples, Bangkok is also a treat for shoppers. You’ll even find it easy because most locals speak English in tourist areas. Just make sure you have plenty of Baht in your wallet.
Want a break from malls? Try Bangkok’s floating markets like Damnoen Saduak and Amphawa. Or if you’re good at haggling (respectfully of course), test your skills at Chatuchak Weekend Market.
For modern shopping centres, Bangkok won’t disappoint. Experience what the locals call a “lifestyle mall” at Terminal 21 to shop in world-famous cities. Wander around Tokyo stores, bag discounts from Istanbul zouks, or grab a bite in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, all in one mall.
Are you a night owl? Ride a boat to Asiatique and browse boutiques, eat great food, and enjoy entertainment from 5PM-12MN. But whether you’re out all day or night, Bangkok is foodie heaven with most restaurants open 24/7, and friendly to all budgets. Start your Thai food tour right here.

When to visit Bangkok
Bangkok’s tropical climates means sunny weather most of the time. But if you visit in April, bring your sunnies and hats because it’s the hottest month. Come September, your umbrella is your best friend. Check Bangkok's weekly weather forecast to be prepared on your trip.
Tourist high season here is November to April, and lowest from May to August. For the cheapest time to fly, visit Bangkok in September.
Travelling to and getting around Bangkok
You’ll fly to Bangkok via Suvarnabhumi Airport. Though modern, it’s a bit far from Bangkok so it’s best you ride the Airport Link to reach the city in minutes.
Bangkok traffic can be terrible, but you have plenty of options for easy traveling. Save time via Skytrain or the MRT, which connect you to the city’s key areas. Feeling adventurous? Hail a motorbike taxi and ride around Bangkok like an action star while avoiding traffic. For touring historic sites, choose river taxis and boats. Study this guide and wander Bangkok like a pro.
